Client’s Request:
The Stockholm International School (SIS) needed new supplies and computers for the students. They asked Skål to create a fun and exciting fundraising event. They did not want this event to be the typical plea for money or an auction with items that attendees were not likely to purchase.
Results:
Skål welcomed the challenge to create a memorable event that would draw an enthusiastic crowd ready, willing and able to donate to the cause. We booked the group for the Mamma Mia! dinner theatre and dancing. For those unfamiliar with it, Mamma Mia! is a jukebox musical written by British playwright, Catherine Johnson, based on the songs of ABBA (composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Un).
Unfortunately, we discovered that this particular dinner theatre performed its shows in Swedish and those attending the fundraiser spoke English. Skål reached out to the theatre manager and director of the show and convinced them to put on one performance in English. In addition, we arranged for discounted tickets so that the difference in ticket price could then be donated to the Stockholm International School. This was not an easy sell. But, with our persistent negotiating skills, Skål managed to do the impossible!
As a result, SIS successfully raised enough money to purchase new supplies and computers for its students.
